The opportunity
A product can look healthy in an inventory snapshot and still run out before replacement stock arrives. The decision depends on sellable inventory, recent demand, open transfers and purchase orders, supplier lead time, safety stock, and any promotion that is changing demand.
BizSidekick brings those records into one Task and keeps confirmed inventory separate from forecast demand. If a product is projected to run out before replenishment, the result explains the timing and prepares a draft action for review.
What BizSidekick checks
| Evidence | Records used | Decision supported |
|---|---|---|
| Shopify inventory | Available, committed, incoming, and location-level stock | Establishes what can actually be sold |
| Shopify orders | Paid-unit velocity over stable and recent windows | Estimates demand without treating a short spike as permanent |
| Replenishment | Open transfers, purchase orders, lead time, and safety stock | Compares expected runout with replacement timing |
| Promotion exposure | Promoted products and active campaign state | Identifies demand that may accelerate a stockout |
Forecasts remain illustrative until the underlying merchant records are read. Missing supplier lead time or stale incoming inventory is a stopping condition, not a reason to produce a confident order quantity.
The decision this supports
The Task separates three possible responses:
- prepare a purchase order draft when replenishment is too late;
- watch an incoming transfer when it may arrive before runout;
- prepare a separate promotion change when demand must be reduced.
Those actions are not bundled into one automatic update. A purchasing decision and an advertising decision have different owners and review requirements.
How it works
- Start with the risk window — Define complete reporting dates, the minimum safety stock, and which promoted products matter.
- Read inventory and demand — Compare sellable units with recent paid-unit velocity and retain the calculation basis.
- Reconcile replenishment — Check open transfers, purchase orders, and supplier lead time before classifying a product as at risk.
- Prepare the safest draft — Create a purchase order preview only for the products that need it. Nothing is sent to a supplier.
- Read back the draft — Verify line items, quantities, supplier, and
Draftstatus in Shopify before recording the Task result.
Safety boundary
The interactive example uses illustrative products and a mock Shopify Admin. Creating the demo draft does not place a supplier order or change a real promotion. A real purchasing action still requires the merchant's authorized Shopify connection and confirmation.
Expected outcome
A reviewable purchase order draft before forecasted stockouts
